Creating Equitable AI Systems with the Participatory & Inclusive Demographic Data Guidelines
As a member of Partnership on AI’s Demographic Data Working Group, we are excited to share our updated version of the Participatory and Inclusive Demographic Data Guidelines.
While demographic data collection is often necessary for assessing and mitigating algorithmic bias, the process itself can pose risks to vulnerable populations if not handled with utmost care. In developing these Guidelines, our aim was to provide a comprehensive resource that empowers AI practitioners to navigate this complex landscape and advance equitable algorithmic systems.
Led by PAI’s Eliza McCullough and Sarah Villeneuve  the Guidelines are the result of extensive collaboration and consultation with experts from diverse backgrounds.
